The Gonzaga Bulldogs and the BYU Cougars meet in college basketball action from Marriott Center on Saturday.
The Bulldogs enter this one at 27-1 on the season. Gonzaga’s lone loss came way back on November 29, and they’ve taken out LMU, Saint Mary’s, Pepperdine and San Francisco in their last four.
In the win over the Dons, Gonzaga’s Killian Tillie had 22 points with nine rebounds to lead the way. Filip Petrusev added 16 points and seven rebounds there, and Ryan Woolridge had 12 points with seven assists and five rebounds.
Over on the BYU side, they’re 21-7 this year. The Cougars are on a seven-game win streak, taking out Pepperdine, Saint Mary’s, Portland, San Francisco, LMU, SanDiego and Santa Clara.
In the win over the Broncos, BYU’s TJ Haws put up 28 points with nine assists, and Yoeli Childs had 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Toolson doubled up there with 20 points and 10 rebounds as well.
BYU is 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 14-3 ATS in their last 17 after an ATS loss. The Cougars are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 overall.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and the over is 21-6 in their last 27 Saturday games. The over is 23-6 in the Bulldogs’ last 29 overall and 10-1 in their last 11 road games.
Outside of a couple close calls (the most recent coming 83-79 versus a sometimes dangerous San Francisco team), Gonzaga’s been taking care of business really well during this lengthy winning streak. It’s difficult to find much to complain about there.
BYU lost 92-69 on the road the last time these teams met up, and since then the Cougars have built up a solid offensive run. Seems to me like the Cougars should play a lot better here, but I still like Gonzaga on the cover.
