The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Baylor Bears meet in Big 12 conference college hoops from the Ferrell Center on Monday night.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will try to finish strong after falling to 9-7 in conference play with back-to-back losses after a 68-58 loss to Texas last time out. Jahmi’us Ramsey leads Texas Tech in scoring with 15.5 PPG while Davide Moretti has 12.9 PPG and Kyler Edwards has 11.8 PPG. Terrence Shannon Jr. is Texas Tech’s 4th double-digit scorer with 10.1 PPG while Chris Clarke has team-high averages of 6.5 RPG and 4.7 APG this season. As a team, Texas Tech is averaging 72.4 points on 45.3% shooting from the field, 35.9% from 3-point range and 75.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 63.2 points on 40.8% shooting from the field and 30.6% from 3-point range this season. Texas Tech is 3-6 straight up and 4-5 against the spread on the road this season.
The Baylor Bears will look to rebound from a 75-72 loss to TCU last time out. Jared Butler leads Baylor in scoring with 15.8 PPG while MaCio Teague has 14.1 PPG and 4.8 RPG. Freddie Gillespie has 9.9 PPG and a team-high 9.1 RPG while Davion Mitchell has 9.8 PPG and a team-high 3.9 APG this season. As a team, Baylor is averaging 71.4 points on 43.2% shooting from the field, 35.2% from 3-point range and 69.5% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 59.3 points on 39.2% from the field and 31% from 3-point range this season. Baylor is 13-1 straight up and 7-7 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I get Baylor being favored at home, and the Bears have been rock solid at the Ferrell Center this year. However, the loss to TCU was a head-scratcher, and I think Texas Tehc will be out to show that they’re a much better team than what the last couple games have shown, especially the loss to Texas. I’m not sure Texas Tech wins this one outright, but I do think this is too many points to be giving up in what I think is a 4-point game whichever way you slice it. I’ll take the Red Raiders and the points in this one.
